5 Best Places to Visit in the UK in 2023


Are you thinking of organizing a trip for 2023? A few days to unwind, enjoy art, spend time with your friends, or explore. Where should you go? The Time Out UK team will remind you that there are many incredible destinations, including here. You wouldn't believe it, there are unique places across the country that you can easily visit at a reasonable cost, and without having to take a flight (or travel not very far actually).


To compile this ranking, we consulted our local experts throughout the UK to find out which towns, cities and regions are worth a visit next year. These are cities that have thriving drinks, food and art scene. These are cities that boast significant cultural events and stunning new hotels. All of them have at least one massive celebration (and often many) shortly, which should be on your calendar.


In essence, these are the country's areas that everybody will discuss in the coming 12 months. It's a good thing too. A coastal town that is under-appreciated, which is set to host this year's Turner Prize, and a city where dining out doesn't constantly need to spend a lot of money to an old-fashioned resort town with fantastic beer and the region which hosts two of our favorite music festivals The best part in this region in the UK in 2023. Top Destinations for a Visit to the UK in 2023.


1. Eastbourne


The town's coastal location could bring up images of OAPs enjoying coach holidays, the pesky pebbles that clog your shoes, and the crowds of tennis enthusiasts attending Rothesay International. Still, Eastbourne is on its path to becoming a reputable centre for the creative.


The Towner Eastbourne is an impressive gallery with a vivid mural of German artist Lothar Gotz was selected to be the official venue for the 2023 Turner Prize (from September 28) to coincide with the 100th anniversary year of the forum. You should also consider a trip to South Downs National Park if you're in town. South Downs National Park, maybe at the time of the Eastbourne Walking Festival (September 16 to 25) in the days before the start of the Turner.


The perfect day to enjoy the coffee from Beanzz Coffee & Kitchen, stroll along the seafront to admire the views that are Beachy Head. Take a dip before lunch at Port Hotel. Begin your day with live music at Dew Drop Inn, Printers Playhouse or The Stage Door.


2. Birmingham


Birmingham has been known for a long time to be growing as the UK's best-kept foodie location. The most recent awards come out of the guide Good Food 2022. It lists three restaurants in Birmingham in addition to Solihull (Carters of Moseley The Wilderness, Grace & Savour at Hampton Manor) cited in its highly regarded list of the twenty most popular restaurants in the UK.


Birmingham has also been named the UK's most popular food destination' in the same guide, describing the city as offering a diverse selection of different and often extraordinary restaurants throughout the price spectrum. Modern British Indian restaurant Opheem and the pleasantly priced dining establishment Harborne Kitchen are Birmingham's best restaurants. Be on the lookout for the chic French restaurant Orelle, located on the 24th floor of the city's brand-new building, 103 Colmore Row building.


The perfect day starts with a cup of coffee in Wayland's Yard before lunchtime, drinks and baos from North Brewing Co's newest Birmingham taproom. Because why not? One pint is all you need, and a city-centre canal-kayak adventure along with Roundhouse Birmingham awaits. Returning to the land, take a quick picture on The Black Sabbath bench on Broad Street before settling for Brum's finest Chicken at Bonehead and enjoying a new act on the stage at The Sunflower Lounge.


3. Cardigan


West Wales remains criminally underappreciated, and the charming Cardigan could be the best place to visit. It's a traditional Welsh market town with an enthralling creative flair and a stunning location with a fascinating past and numerous ways to tell its story. Cardigan was where it all began for the Eisteddfod (brilliantly recorded at the recently renovated Cardigan Castle). Cardigan has stunning cafes, welcoming pubs, and other small-scale businesses. Our top choices are the cinema Mwldan and the gin distillery-lumbar Bar 45.


The beautiful Guildhall Market is a bustling centre of industry (currently located on three different sites while its main structure is being renovated) in which Welsh thoughts are honoured, and conversation is more valuable than currency. There are many beautiful beaches close by too.


The perfect day starts with a stroll through the stalls at Canolfan Teifi before grabbing brunch at Bara Menyn Bakehouse. Indulge in Stiwdio3 and then the castle before dining at the fantastic Pizzatipi opposite the River. Relax at the dazzling Albion Aberteifi.


4. Manchester


Manchester, in one word? Absolutely 'fun'. 2023 promises to be the most fun year to go to ever. The Manchester Museum will finally reopen in February following a major PS15 million renovation. In June, the brand new Factory International will host 'You me and the Balloons, The largest ever immersive show by the cult artist Yayoi Kusama. In the next few months, the museum will also put on an adaptation of The Matrix, directed by Danny Boyle. Two green spaces that are brand new are Mayfield Park and the Castlefield Viaduct is proof that


Manchester has taken its green credibility as seriously as it does its cultural values.

A perfect day to stroll around The Northern Quarter and grab coffee and pastries at Ezra and Gil before browsing the trendy wares available at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre (pick up a snack at the cafe during your visit). Take an organized tour of Unesco City of Literature sites before returning HOME to watch a movie and have pizza.


5. Scarborough


It was back in 1626 when a stream of acidic waters flowing through Scarborough's cliffs, which stretches for miles and flows into the sea, was found. Doctors of the time believed that water could heal ailments due to its chemical makeup. It was a significant reason for tourists to Scarborough, and the town was subsequently regarded as the first British seaside resort.


Now, fast forward to today, and it's flourishing again. In 2023, the town will be witnessing the iconic Scarborough Fair being revived (April 8 until May 29), featuring a program that includes dance, theatre comedy, juggling, and, more frighteningly, fighting. Scarborough is becoming more of an ideal destination for craft beer enthusiasts too. Micropubs like The Stumble Inn, Quayside Bar, The Frigate and Craft Bar are also attracting fans to the coast, with Valley Bar in trendy South Cliff the preferred spot for a drink to kick off your night.


The perfect day to order your coffee from Yay Coffee's tiny truck situated high in the Esplanade with stunning views of South Bay. Take a stroll around the Victorian beauty in the South Cliff Gardens, recently renovated to their former glory. Explore the antique shops in Old Town.


Old Town, including the diverse Yorkshire interiors of Woolley Edge in the refurbished Market Hall, before a delicious vegan meal at the Love Brew Cafe. Enjoy the afternoon in the Alpamare Wellness Spa, with its ceiling-to-ceiling windows that look out towards and across the North Sea. The day will be finished with a cocktail at Geo and an impromptu Asian-style British dinner in S&M's Haus at S&M.
